Welcome to the research page of the Great Lakes ADA Center. Our research is centered around three key domains: Accessible Cities, Education, and Employment. Through our projects in these areas, we aim to uncover barriers and facilitators to effective implementation, enhance our understanding of stakeholders’ requirements for disability rights information, and enhance the quality of ongoing ADA technical assistance initiatives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Accessible Cities <\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Our research, led by Dr. Yochai Eisenberg and Dr. Delphine Labbe focuses on improving accessibility in US public rights-of-way (PROW) through ADA transition plans. By conducting systematic reviews and geospatial analysis, we identify barriers and offer resources for nationwide ADA transition planning, crucial for mobility and inclusivity. Education <\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

We’re creating a curriculum based on the Great Lakes ADA Center’s QIAT-PS project, empowering high school seniors and transition students to advocate for assistive technology (AT). This research provides quality indicators and assessment tools to improve AT service delivery and enhance students’ self-advocacy skills in postsecondary education.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Employment <\/span><\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

In employment research, we’re conducting two projects. One examines workplace flexibility for disabled employees under Title I of the ADA, while the other supports ADA-related information needs in Spanish-speaking communities in the Great Lakes region.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
